Governor Davis will ask for more federal aid to pay for homeland security in a national radio speech this Saturday. The Democratic governor´s remarks will come in response to President George Bush´s weekly radio address, which is broadcast to the nation every Saturday.
Davis was chosen to make the rebuttal by a national governors´ group. State leaders are growing concerned that the federal government is not paying its share of the cost of providing security at home. A Davis spokesman said California´s share of stateside homeland security is more than $500 million annually.
