Two Escape Flames In Early Morning Blaze

Tuolumne County fire officials say two people living in a doublewide mobile home escaped injury in a fire early this morning. Fire spokeswoman Debra Fish says the mother and daughter renting the home on the 20,900 block of Jamestown Road were lucky to get out safely since there were no working smoke detectors in the residence. Fish says the structure went up quickly. “When firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed,” Fish said.

The fire was first reported at 3:47 a.m. this morning. Fish says early investigation has determined the fire started in the back of the home. Exact cause of the blaze is under investigation. Damage to the home and contents are estimated to be $75,000, Fish said.
