Community College officials across the state say they´re startled by today´s announcement of an additional $38 million in cuts to those schools. They were already dealing with $211 million in cutbacks this year.
Here in Tuolumne County, Columbia College President Jim Riggs says today´s announcement means about 160 thousand fewer dollars for the school. He says childcare, disability programs, school counselors and more are all on the chopping block.
Riggs says that overall, the college is trimming about $2 million from its budget.
