The Calaveras Unified School District has received its first “green diesel” bus.
No, the bus is still yellow and black. It´s a clean-air diesel-burning school bus.
The 2002 International bus incorporates new “Green Diesel technology,” to cut down on emissions and powered by an ultra low-sulfur fuel designed to burn in specially calibrated engines.
The $110,000 bus was purchased with special grant money from the state´s Lower Emission School Bus Program – part of a larger state effort to reduce air pollution in California. The new school bus is presently running a route in Jenny Lind.
