State To Appeal Debt “Warning” Ruling

State officials say they will appeal a federal judge´s ruling that allows banks to ignore a California law requiring credit card “warnings” in monthly statements.

Some high-powered financial institutions moved to block the state law last year before it was to take effect. It would have required banks and credit unions to tell costumers how long it takes to pay off debts by making only the minimum monthly payments.
