A home builders association says banning wood-burning fireplaces in new homes won´t affect builders in Merced County. Ed Taczanowsky of the Building Industry Association of the Central Valley says most builders put gas-burning devices in new homes. Regional air quality regulators want to ban wood-burning fireplaces to cut air pollution.
