A federal appeals court in San Francisco has upheld the death sentence of a Stockton man who raped and killed a 17-year-old Lodi girl 22 years ago.
Michael Morales was convicted of killing Terri Winchell in 1981 in a revenge attack for spreading rumors his cousin was gay.
