The California Supreme Court has declined to intervene in the recall election.
The decision clears the way for an October 7 vote, which will also include a list of successor candidates. The announcement comes after the justices held hours of closed-door discussions that began yesterday.
That clears the way for an October seventh vote on whether or not to remove Governor Gray Davis and replace him with someone from a list of candidates who qualify by a Saturday deadline.
