Calaveras County Water District Director Jeff Davidson won re-election handily, besting challenger Ivor Powell 72.2 percent to 27 percent, according to final, unofficial election results from the Calaveras County elections office. Davidson received 1,528 votes to Powell´s 571 ballots in the special districts election conducted by mail-in ballot.
A special parcel tax in the Jenny Lind Fire Protection District went down to defeat. It needed a two-thirds majority to be approved but didn´t get even a simple majority, failing with 940 voters or 51.8 percent voting against it and 875 district residents supporting the measure. The Circle XX Community Services District tax fared better, winning 89.1 percent to 10.9 percent.
In other elections:
Alvin Ohlau and David Serra were elected to the San Andreas Fire District Board of Directors. Lucille Allee, Jeffrey Duke and Jack Silveira were elected to the Valley Springs Public Utilities District board. Christopher Madill and Bruce Thomas won election to the Wallace Community Services District board.
And all special districts that voted on whether to continue conducting their elections by mail supported continuing that balloting process.
