The rural town of Soledad has filed two legal motions to remove convicted sex offender Brian DeVries from their community.
DeVries has been living in a trailer in Monterey County since he was released from a state program to rehabilitate sex offenders earlier this month.
One legal motion asks a Santa Clara County judge to reconsider his decision to place DeVries in Soledad. City officials say DeVries lives within walking distance of two farming communities where children live.
A second motion asks the judge to stick to a state policy of releasing sex offenders to the communities where they were last convicted. In DeVries´ case, that´s Santa Clara County.
A court hearing is set for September 22nd.
