Bay Area Fires to be Contained Tonight

Firefighters are holding a series of sprawling grass fires in the San Francisco Bay area in check. They´ve raised containment to 95 percent and say they expect to encircle them fully by tonight.

California Department of Forestry officials say the fires have burned just over 30,000 acres in rural Alameda, Santa Clara and Stanislaus counties.

That progress let some crews head for other blazes in the Sierra Nevada. The CDF in San Andreas says there are no fires burning in Tuolumne or Calaveras counties right now.
