Columbia College officially dedicated its brand new $8.1 million library Wednesday afternoon during ceremonies and an open house on campus along side San Diego Reservoir.
Funding for the new building has been touch and go during the past two years of the project. Yosemite Community College District Chancellor Pamila Fisher said, “Despite all the best work of so very many people, we didn´t know if we were going to make it or not.”
Assemblyman Dave Cogdill represented his office and that of Senator Chuck Poochigan and a resolution was read from Congressman George Radanovich office as well.
More than 100 people toured the new 20,000 square-foot Learning Resources and Media Technology building. The library is the first permanent structure built on the Columbia College campus in 12 years.
The afternoon was highlighted by a ribbon cutting and dedication in memory of the late College Board Trustee Joseph Mitchell.
