An Oregon-grown pumpkin proved to be the heaviest of the heavyweights at the annual World championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay Yesterday. The winner topped the scales at 1,180 pounds. That´s seven pounds more than last year´s winner which also came from Oregon.
The prize for the largest California-grown pumpkin went to James Martin of Hayward. He took fourth place overall with an entry weighing 1,064 pounds.
