Democratic U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer is heading toward a 2004 re-election campaign with a dip in her approval ratings. But a new California Field Poll shows her well ahead of four Republican rivals. The poll shows the number of
Californians inclined to vote for Boxer fell from a high of 48 percent in July – to 45 percent in September. Another 40 percent of voters say they are not inclined to re-elect Boxer.
The senator is running for her third six-year Senate term. The poll shows the favored nominee among Republicans is former Secretary of State Bill Jones.
