Fire crews responding to the report of a wildfire burning in the Skull Creek area of the Stanislaus National Forest in Tuolumne County were unable to local any active fire. The fire was thought to be in the region between Beardsley Reservoir and Calaveras Big Trees State Park eastern border.
A fire lookout spotted a column of smoke around 10:30 this morning in the area near Thunder Hill. Fire officials were concerned because of gusty winds up to 25 miles-per-hour in that area right now.
