Winter’s finally here. Rain in the foothills and snow in the upper elevations.
Folks throughout the entire sierra region endured slick roads, snow flurries and cold temperatures this weekend.
This morning, the storm is causing some minor problems.
Twain Harte fire crews are on the scene of a tree that has fallen into power lines at Tuolumne Drive at Columbia Drive and another tree is said to be in the power lines at Longeway near Ryan River Road in the Twain Harte area. PG and E crews are en-route.
Snow closed all the mountain passes Friday afternoon. Most still remain closed this morning. Chain controls are in effect on Highway 108 at Soulsbyville, Highway 4 at Hathaway Pines, Highway 120 at La Casa Loma in the Groveland area, and Highway 88 at Buckhorn Grade.
Some schools are on a delayed start this morning. The Twain Harte School District, including Black Oak, Twain Harte Middle and Pinecrest School are on 1-hour delays. In the Vallecito School district, Avery Middle, Michelson Elementary and Hazel Fisher Elementary are all on a 1-hour delay this morning as well.
The Cedar Ridge bus to Bellview School will do the Kewin Mill run only today.
The storm front will be moving out of the area today with partly cloudy skies forecast by later today.
