Look for Scott Peterson´s defense lawyer to go on the offensive again today.
Mark Geragos is expected to call his own witnesses to discredit forensic science techniques used to link a strand of hair to Laci Peterson. Prosecutors are using DNA to make a case that the hair wrapped in pliers in Scott Peterson´s boat belongs to his wife, whom he´s accused of killing last year. Geragos has called the DNA evidence the unreliable subject of “raging debate” among scientists.
But one expert in the field says that´s not so. The head of a Pennsylvania lab that extracts cellular blueprints from evidence says the process has been used for years. It has helped identify remains of soldiers killed in Vietnam and victims of the Nine-Eleven attacks.
