Weekend Storm Brings Rain, Snow

A weekend storm dumped up to 14 inches of snow in the Sierra Nevada and caused delays for some mountain motorists.

Chain controls were lifted earlier in the day Sunday on two trans-Sierra highways:– Interstate 80 over Donner Summit and Highway 88 over Carson Pass.

Ski resort operators say the storm provided a much-needed boost as the Christmas holiday season approaches.

Morning broke with clear, chilling skies Monday as the rainy weather takes a brief break. More rain on the way beginning Tuesday afternoon, continuing all the way through the weekend.
