Santa came to Sonora Friday, but he left the sleigh and reindeer behind at the North Pole.
Instead, the jolly “old elf” and his helpers flew in to The Junction shopping center by way of an Air Med 2 helicopter. It was the second annual Santa Fly-in sponsored by the Air Med Flight Team, Tuolumne General Hospital and Tuolumne County Ambulance.
Clouds overhead held back rain while dozens of children and parents waited for the bright red and white to land in the parking lot near Longs Drugs.
Once on the ground, Santa greeted the kids and his elves handed out candy canes, cookies and hot cocoa.
