A debate over whether to ban Wal-Mart Super Centers is splitting residents in the city of Turlock. Resident and business owners spoke at a public hearing last night, expressing concerns other businesses would be shut down if the giant retailer comes to town.
Meantime, Tuolumne County Planning Commission looks at “Big Box” retail stores tonight. Officials will consider developing new standards that would limit the size of retail and office buildings. The county´s supervisors have debated the issue numerous times and are likely to make a decision on the ordinance at their January 13th meeting.
The planning commission meets at 7 tonight in the county Supervisors chambers– fourth floor — in the Tuolumne County Administration Center.
