Highway 49 Fire Contained

Fire crews held a grass fire along Highway 49 near the Stevenot Bridge to just under five acres Wednesday afternoon. The blaze, on the steep hillsides north of the Highway 49 – Stevenot Bridge, near New Melones Lake, appears to have started along the roadway, about 1/2-mile from the vista point lookout, according to fire officials.

Both ground and air resources handled the fire.

CDF officials at the scene contained the fire at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.
