A 24 year old Groveland man is jailed under $568,000.00 bail, after a high speed chase that lasted nearly an hour Saturday night. Steve Crivello of Farretti Road led Tuolumne County Deputies along Highways 108 and 120, through Sugar Pine, Soulsbyville, Sierra Village and nearby areas at speeds up to 100 Miles per hour, by Highway Patrol estimates.
It started when deputies attempted to serve warrants for failing to appear in court on charges of making terrorist threats and harrassment. At one point several highway patrol units and a highway patrol helicopter were involved in the pursuit. Crivello was finally stopped when a spike strip flattened his tires along Highway 108 near O´Byrnes Ferry Road. His Chevy Camaro caught fire, touching off a small vegetation blaze along the highway. The chase started shortly after 8:30 and ended just after 9:15 p.m.
