Tuolumne County firefighters are launching a major effort to recruit more volunteers to their ranks. Nationwide, there has been a drop of about 12% in volunteers. President Rick Kardash of the County fire Officers´ Association says the figures here are in the 50% range.
Special recruitment efforts will be underway May 19th and 25th. The department offers free training and several other incentives to volunteers.
