Federal land managers have secured more fire engines and air tankers and will hire more firefighters in anticipation of a bigger wildfire season than usual across much of the drought-stricken West.
Interior Secretary Gale Norton and others plan to outline their forecast in Washington Tuesday in testimony before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
Norton says drought conditions across the country are an indication that we could be in for a very tough fire season.
