Tuolumne County Habitat´s annual “Radio-Thon” fund-raiser took place Saturday. Director Frank Smart says the event raises money each year to help build homes in the “Sweat Equity” program. The fourth home is under construction this summer.
The event started at 8 a.m. Saturday morning in the Parking lot of Andy´s True Value on Mono Way. The radio-a-thon got under way at 10 a.m.
One feature of the event is the “Buy-A-Stud” program. Community members and program supporters, with a donation to the program, could sign 2×4 studs to be used in building the home. Smart says those personal messages leave a lasting impression.
