Twain Harte Fire officials are breathing easier today. Voters there have overwhelmingly approved a self-assessment to rescue the fire protection budget.
Chief Bob Kempvanee says the 90 percent approval was officially reported at last evening´s board meeting.
The assessment will make up the 71-thousand dollars per year that dropped out of the district´s budget, when an accounting error surfaced in the distribution of State Education Revenue Augmentation Fund dollars.
The District will also be able to pay back the state for overpayments collected for several years under the confusing ERAF formula. The average homeowner will pay 59 dollars per year under the new assessment.
