A Copperopolis double wide mobile home was completely destroyed by fire this afternoon.
Copperopolis firefighters found the older home on Conestoga Trail near Highway 4 fully engulfed when they arrived.
The blaze in rural Calaveras County was contained at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, fire officials said.
Four engines and a water tender from the fire district responded to the blaze in the “Diamond XX” neighborhood west of Copperopolis.
Intense heat from the fire completely melted the aluminum siding of the home, leaving only the charred and twisted tin roof and steel support beams intact. Little was left of the home´s contents.
Copperopolis Fire District Fire Chief Dennis Powers said no one was home when the fire broke out, and no one was hurt in the blaze.
An older Chevy Blazer parked along the residence was also gutted by flames.
Powers and firefighters on the scene were sifting through the rubble this afternoon looking for a cause. The fire is still under investigation.
