A statewide initiative campaign on the March fifth ballot could make California the second state this year to roll back or repeal term limits.
The Proposition 45 campaign is being aided by more than six and a-half million dollars in contributions from the state Democratic Party and special interests.
Today Idaho´s Republican-dominated legislature overrode Governor Dirk Kempthorne´s veto and repealed its eight-year-old term-limits law.
California´s initiative wouldn´t repeal term limits but let voters in individual legislative districts sign petitions to extend the terms of their member of the state Assembly or Senate.
Currently, state senators are allowed two four-year terms, while Assembly members can serve three two-year terms.
