A man on California´s Death Row convicted of gunning down a college student in 1981 had his Lassen County death sentence overturned by a federal appeals court. The Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals commuted Benjamin Wai Silva´s death
sentence to life in prison. The court said Silva´s lawyer failed to investigate his client´s mental history.
