A California Indian tribe received permission Friday to construct a 100 million-dollar casino outside of Sacramento.
The United Auburn Indian Community will build on 49 acres of unincorporated land near Roseville, northeast of Sacramento. The location is on the Interstate-80 corridor between San Francisco and Nevada. Reno casino operators about 110 miles northeast of Sacramento view the casino as their biggest competitor. The tribe has about 220 members who live on an impoverished 30-acre reservation.
