The woman who plunged more than 200-feet over Horsetail Falls along U.S. 50 southwest of Lake Tahoe over the weekend has been identified as 24-year-old Mary “Grace” Miller of Carmichael.
While search teams have been unable to locate her body, officials say she is presumed to have died after being swept into the current and dropping over the falls.
Because of the swift current, rescue teams have suspended the search for Miller´s body. El Dorado County search and rescue coordinator Mike Sukau says there´s too much turbulence in the water to make an effort to safely send divers to find her.
The Sacramento-area woman was hiking with her husband and went wading in the water to take a picture when she was caught up in the current and went over the falls north of Strawberry.
