The state Public Utilities has fined long-distance reseller Accutel $1.5 million for the practice known as cramming and slamming. The PUC says Accutel billed about 44,000 California customers an unauthorized monthly service charge of $4.95. The commission also says the firm switched 34 customers´ local toll or long-distance service without authorization.
