New Bridge Spans Blue Creek

A bridge connecting Winton Road and the Blue Creek subdivision, washed out in the floods of 1997, has been replaced with a stronger, permanent structure.

Acting Stanislaus Forest Supervisor Glenn Gottschall says construction of the new bridge is a joint effort between the US Forest Service and Sierra Pacific Industries.

The bridge spanning Blue Creek in the Calaveras Ranger District cost about 175-thousand dollars to complete with SPI paying for 55 percent of the total costs.

The permanent bridge directly links Forest Service and SPI lands and is capable of handling loads up to 120-thousand pounds.
