Anti-Smoking Bill In Final Phase

Published Aug 13, 2002 6:55 am : Updated Jan 31, 2009 5:32 pm

A bill prohibiting smoking within 25 feet of a children’s playground has been approved by the state Senate.

Tuolumne County Public Health Nurse Kathy Amous says the law would protect children from exposure to second-hand smoke.

Violations could result in 250-dollar fines. The bill now returns to the Assembly to be reconciled with its original version.
