Condit Sues Star

The wife of California Congressman Gary Condit has sued the publisher and parent company of the tabloid magazine the Star. Carolyn Condit claims the magazine made libelous statements in a cover story that could injure her reputation. She´s seeking $15 million. In the suit filed in Fresno federal court, Condit says the falsehoods include that she threatened to kill herself, trashed the family house and sought counseling because of her husband´s relationship with former federal intern Chandra Levy. The magazine´s spokesman, Gerald McKelvey, says he has not seen the suit and can´t comment on it. Levy´s skeletal remains were found May 22nd in a Washington D-C park and her death was ruled a homicide. Her killer has never been captured. Condit reportedly told police he and Levy were having an affair. Police do not consider him a suspect in her death.
