Fire Prompts Ag Disaster Zone Plea

Published Aug 26, 2002 1:40 pm : Updated Jan 31, 2009 5:32 pm

Tulare County supervisors have asked Governor Davis to declare their county an agricultural disaster zone as a result of the McNalley wildfire.

Farmers and ranchers have lost grazing land, plus an unknown number of cattle. The fire continues to burn, but is now in a region where it does not threaten buildings or old-growth redwoods.

The California Cattlemen“s association says its members are still assessing the damage to their operations.
