A survey will be going out to parents of students in the Sonora Union High School district this week.
Reason for the questionnaire is to find out if there is sufficient interest in a Middle College program for high school students at Columbia College.
The school district and the college have formed a partnership to plan and implement this program for 11th and 12th grade students who have the ability to do college level work, but whose educational needs are not being met by traditional high school programs.
Columbia College President Jim Riggs says finding the balance, so the program meets the needs of students but doesn´t take revenue away from the school district, has been a key issue in the year-long planning of the program.
A follow-up meeting by the two districts is planned for mid-November.
