A hearing is scheduled this morning to determine whether actor Robert Blake, who´s accused in the murder of his wife Bonny Lee Bakley, should get bail. The 69-year-old former “Baretta” star has been jailed without bail since his April 18th arrest. He is accused of murder, conspiracy, solicitation to murder and the special circumstance of lying in wait in the May 2001 shooting. His lawyer, Harland Braun, has accused prosecutors of trying to deny Blake the ability to help in his defense by keeping him in jail. But prosecutors say a clear reason exists because they allege he murdered his wife by lying in wait. Bail can be denied in a capital crime in California. Prosecutors have said they don´t plan to seek the death penalty if Blake is convicted. As a result, Blake´s attorneys contend there´s no reason to deny bail.
