If your commute to the Bay Area takes you on Highway 4 past the Concord Naval Weapons Station, you´ll see new activity there at this week.
Marines are conducting urban warfare and rescue exercises. It´s the largest exercise at the mothballed Navy base in at least a year.
The Marines are preparing for deployment to the Middle East. The drills should wrap up by Monday.
Navy officials say the base may be reactivated. There´s no schedule for such an activation – but, if it occurred – civilian users would need to evacuate within 30 days.
