Gas prices are seeing their first major upswing in six months. An industry survey says retail gas prices jumped almost three cents during the past two weeks. The Lundberg Survey says the average price for gas nationwide, including all grades and taxes, was about $1.49. That´s up nearly three cents from the previous survey on September 27th.
Analyst Trilby Lundberg says continued strong crude oil prices, plus higher demand at the pump, contributed to the increase. She says fears about the Middle East crisis have kept crude oil prices high, along with travelers´ continued reluctance to fly. Until the latest survey, the price of gas had remained steady since April fifth.
