Three hundred acres of dangerous brush and dead wood went up in flames today near Priest Grade in southern Tuolumne County.
The burn was part of California Department of Forestry´s plan for protecting Groveland, Big Oak Flat and the Hetch Hetchy water system from wildfire.
Crews had planned to burn another 430 acres tomorrow, but postponed the burn because of the storm moving into the area.
Today´s fire began with a small test burn to make sure the smoke moved away from Big Oak Flat and Groveland.
