The Sonora Union High School board heard a draft report Monday on what the historic Dome Building could be one day in the future.
The Silver-topped building currently houses the district’s offices, but members of the community asked for a study to look at how the nearly one-hundred-year-old building could be better used. An architect took a look.
Superintendent Rob Gaskill says the architect concluded that the building could hold an arts center or offices, or community center.
The architect’s report also details the challenges in using the building differently.
Gaskill says those issues include very limited parking around the building and handicapped access.
If the board is satisfied with the draft, a final report will be written and give guidance to future discussion on what to do with the dome building.
