It´s four more years for Democratic Governor Davis. Davis won re-election despite a strong showing by his Republican challenger Bill Simon. In his acceptance speech, Davis said despite two difficult years, the state “has made progress on lots of issues and improved the quality of life for lots of people.”
Tuolumne and Calaveras county voters favored Simon over Davis. In Tuolumne County 51.22 percent voted for Simon compared to 38 percent for Davis, while 53 percent of Calaveras County choice the Republican, while Davis garnered 33 percent of the vote.
