Governor Davis has appointed one of his aides to the state Agricultural Labor Relations Board.
Davis named Cathryn Rivera to the five-member panel, which conducts farm labor union elections and rules on farm labor disputes.
The 32-year-old Rivera has been the governor’s chief deputy cabinet secretary since 1999. She is a graduate of Arizona State University and Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley.
Rivera fills one of three vacancies on the board, succeeding Herbert Mason. The appointment can be vetoed by the state Senate.
