Shasta County District Attorney McGregor Scott says the jailhouse suicide of white supremacist Benjamin Williams is a good thing.
Scott says taxpayers will save money and there won´t be years of appeals. And, says Scott, “We won´t have to worry about the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals doing something crazy like they do every week on the death penalty.”
Williams was serving time for torching three synagogues in 1999. He was also awaiting trial, with his brother James, in the murder of a gay couple.
Redding police are investigating how Williams got a blade from a disposable razor. His cell, where his body was found Sunday, is in a high-security area. Inmates there use electric shavers.
