It´s Charlie Brown versus Beetle Bailey in a legal battle for as many as 44 original “Peanuts” comic strips.
The trust that controls Charles Schulz´s Peanuts strip is suing Mort Walker and his International Museum of Cartoon Art. Walker created the comic strip “Beetle Bailey.”
The suit seeks to regain strips that Schulz lent Walker in 1978.
The complaint alleges the strips were supposed to be returned to Schulz when the museum didn´t need them anymore. The trust also claims the museum sold four original strips. The museum denies that.
The museum was in Boca Raton, Florida. It closed in July but Walker hopes to reopen. The Schulz trust says it´s concerned the museum will sell Schulz´s work to pay debts.
In a written statement, Walker says he hopes to reach a settlement
