The 19th annual Historic Sonora Christmas Parade is tonight.
Rachell Kellogg with the City of Sonora said they have about 75 entries in the parade, including floats, bands, marchers, cars fire trucks and horses.
To help thin the crowds over a greater area, the city has extended the route of the parade.
“This year we´ve extended the parade from the Red Church to Restano Way which is down by Subway,” Kellogg said. “That will spread it out and hopefully make more room for the multitude of people who come down to watch the parade.”
In past years the parade ended at Stockton Street.
The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. sharp. Featured participants in the event are Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving in Sonora from the North Pole.
Afterwards, the festivities continue as the Sonora High School Golden Regiment Band performs in Court House Park, and downtown merchants will hold an open house.
