A Santa Cruz County man who disappeared last week and turned up cold and hungry on a Tuolumne County trail says he can’t remember what happened to him. Marshall Doud had a lump on his head and a smashed driver-side window in his pickup truck when he was found Sunday in the Emigrant Wilderness in Tuolumne County.
Doud was last seen Wednesday leaving his job at Seagate Technologies. Santa Cruz Police Sergeant Steve Clark says Doud told them he couldn’t remember anything from the time he left a Scotts Valley gas station to the moment he was found. Clark says Doud doesn´t remember what caused his head injury, the window damage or the source of his reported amnesia. Santa Cruz physician Alan Bonsteel says he’s seen “bump-on-the-head amnesias” in the emergency room many times. But he says losing several days such as Doud reports is unusual.
