Local skiers are going to be happy. Dodge Ridge ski resort is planning their season opening this week.
Dodge Ridge spokesperson Karrie Mathson announced this morning the ski area – located off Highway 108 near Pinecrest in upper Tuolumne County – will open Wednesday, December 18 with all lifts in operation. They report a 30-inch base at the bottom and 3-to-4-feet at the top.
She said the ski area received more than 30-inches of snow just in the past two days, since Friday. Snow continues to fall this morning.
“They have so much snow, crews are out right now moving it around,” Mathson said this morning. “We´re excited.”
Other ski areas received lots of the cold, white stuff as weel. Bear Valley Ski Area reported 36-to-42-inches of snow and Kirkwood Ski Area got 24-to-38-inches of snow in the period between late Thursday and 5 p.m. Sunday evening.
