The Census bureau says Western and Southern states continue to grow in population at faster rates than the rest
of the nation. As of July first this year the nation´s population was over 288 million with California biggest among the states at over 35 million.
Nevada remains the fastest-growing state for the 16th consecutive year reaching 2.2 million people. Nevada had a 3.6 percent growth over the previous 12 months. Other fastest growing states over the year were Arizona, Florida,
Texas and Georgia.
California also exceeded the national 1.1 percent growth rate with a 1.5 percent gain.
